The Grappling Exchange

Time:
Calendar:

Join Professors Nicholas LaRosa and Luke Boston for a unique three-hour Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu seminar designed to teach both sides of the grappling exchange.

The first half of the seminar will be taught by Professor LaRosa, focusing on applying No-Gi Judo to take your opponent to the ground, establish dominant control, and finish with high-percentage submissions. Students will learn one technique from each of the three primary categories of Judo throwing techniques: Te Waza (hand techniques), Koshi Waza (hip techniques), and Ashi Waza (foot techniques), and how to seamlessly transition from the takedown into effective control and submissions for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and self-defense.

The second half of the seminar, led by Professor Luke Boston, shifts the perspective to the defensive side of the exchange. Students will learn high-percentage positional escape systems designed to recover from inferior positions after being taken down. Through efficient movement, proper framing, and proven escape concepts, participants will develop the skills to regain dominant position, create opportunities to reverse the exchange, and confidently continue the fight whether in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, or self-defense.

Whether your goals are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition, mixed martial arts, or self-defense, this seminar provides a complete system for understanding the transition from standing engagements to the ground—from initiating the takedown to controlling the position, finishing the engagement, or escaping back to safety.
