Low Light Defensive Handgun is a defensive pistol course focused on the practical application of white light in low-light and no-light environments. While the primary focus of this course is the effective use of a handheld flashlight, students will also be introduced to weapon-mounted light techniques and the advantages and limitations of each system. In a defensive encounter, the ability to properly identify what is in front of you is critical. This course teaches students how to use white light to identify and assess before and during a defensive shooting, while minimizing unnecessary exposure and maintaining control of the handgun.
Students will learn handheld flashlight techniques, white light discipline, and how to integrate light with the pistol in realistic shooting situations. Training includes one-handed shooting, movement, use of cover, and transitioning between handheld and weapon-mounted light use. The course will also cover the pros and cons of handheld vs. weapon-mounted lights so students can make informed decisions about their equipment and setup.
This is a defensive shooting course focused on real-world application, decision-making, and accountability, not competition shooting. Students should arrive with prior handgun experience and be safe, competent, and comfortable drawing from a holster and shooting one-handed.
